Book Description:
As commander of the nation's most elite FBI counterterrorism unit, agent Max Bhagat leads by hard-driving example: pushing himself to the limit and beyond, taking no excuses, and putting absolutely nothing ahead of his work. That includes his deep feelings for Gina Vitagliano, the woman who won his admiration and his heart with her courage under fire. But when the shocking news reaches him that Gina has been killed in a terrorist bombing, nothing can keep Max from making a full investigation - and retribution - his top priority.
At the scene of the attack, however, Max gets an even bigger shock. Gina is still very much alive - but facing a fate even worse than death. Along with Molly Anderson, a fellow overseas relief worker, Gina has fallen into the hands of a killer who is bent on using both women to bait a deadly trap. His quarry? Grady Morant, a.k.a "Jones," a notorious ex-Special Forces operative turned smuggler who made some very deadly enemies in the jungles of Southeast Asia . . . and has been running ever since. But with Molly's life on the line, Jones is willing to forfeit his own to save the woman he loves.
Together with Max's top agent Jules Cassidy as their only backup, the unlikely allies plunge into a global hot zone of violence and corruption to make a deal with the devil. Not even Jones knows which ghosts from his past want him dead. But there's one thing he's sure of - there's very little his bloodthirsty enemies aren't willing to do. (Goodreads)

Review:
I was really anxious to read this novel. For the past several books, Max Bhagat has fought his attraction for Gina Vitagliano. At the end of Out of Control (#4), Jones left Molly with the hope of some day reuniting with her. I really loved this novel, but one character was really annoying.
What really brought the novel down for me was Gina! She was really whiny and self-centered in this novel. I liked her in the past novels, but that might have been because she was only featured in small doses. She has her heart in the right place, but she always thinks she is right and the center of the universe; at least that is how she felt to me. Her relationship with Max was practically non-existent prior to this novel because he refused to date her. She is more than twenty years younger than he is. I can see why he was reluctant, but I was happy he finally accepted his feelings for her.
Jones is one of my favorite men in the series. He had an incredibly rough life. Abandoned by the United States, left to face torture for nearly three years, and freed by the enemy to work for them as a mercenary, Jones never had much hope for his future. When he fell in love with Molly in Out of Control, I was incredibly happy. I was sad when he was forced to leave her behind because of the illegal activities he was engaged in since was freed from prison.
The book description does a really good job of outlining the plot of the novel. Jones and Max, the most unlikely pair ever, are forced to work together to find the women they love. Of course, Jules Cassidy makes an appearance. He is determined to help both men find their love. I was just flipping through these pages as fast as I could. Gina really annoyed me so I kind of skipped her parts towards the end. I was much more interested in Jones and Molly. Their story was beautiful and heartbreaking. Suzanne Brockmann writes the most amazing stories. The switches between character perspectives are natural and flow incredibly well.
I am having such a great time reading this series. I highly recommend it!

You skipped her parts?!!! *Gasp* I don't think I ever do that because I'm too worried about missing something.
Looks like a good book. If I can ever get my TBR list down, I'll put it on there!
@Carin: Well, I know what she was going to say. She doesn't have any enlightening things to say or anything to add to the plot.
Great review, sounds like an interesting book. I read a book called "No Heroes: Inside the FBI's Secret Counter-Terror Force" a few years ago. It was written by Danny Coulson who created the FBI's counter terrorism force. It was a very interesting read.
