Shape-shifting werewolf and vampire Riley Jenson is through with death—causing it, solving it, surviving it. Her soul mate, Kye Murphy, is dead—and at Riley’s own hands. Not even the seductive embrace of her vampire lover, Quinn, can fully ease her mind, for she has begun questioning everything that makes her Riley—including her job at the Directorate.
Now, the ritualistically slain bodies of ex-cons have started turning up. Reluctantly, Riley takes the case, but something even worse is waiting in the wings. A vicious enemy from her past is determined to strip Riley of everything that gives her life any meaning: her lover, her brother—and even her own identity. Can Riley survive this ultimate assault? All she knows is, she must fight one last time to find answers, before everything goes dark forever.

Review:
I had been anxiously waiting for the last book in the Riley Jenson Guardian Series. I am happy to say I enjoyed this novel very much. Riley is one of my favorite female characters for so many different reasons. She is compassionate, strong, and realistic. At the end of the last book, I was heartbroken and teary-eyed. In this novel, I was hoping that Riley could overcome her past and begin a beautiful future with Quinn.
Riley's dreams were shattered in the last novel. She spent her life looking for her soul mate. She had hoped to build a family and home with him. She had the white picket fence dream. Then she met Kye, her soul mate, and her dreams slowly started to crumble. He was not the man she thought he would be. Kye was everything Riley was afraid of becoming, a thoughtless murderer. Her soul might have belonged to him, but her heart was for Quinn. In this novel, Riley does not have an easy time. She is mourning the loss of her friend and her soul mate.
The plot of the novel was obvious, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Riley is struggling with being a guardian. She does not want to do it anymore. She hates what she is becoming, a murderer. Quinn is a steady positive influence in her life and I like that he grew to understand her and her werewolf ways. Both characters have changed since their first appearances. I am glad they are learning to lean on each other.
This novel is a great ending to an amazing series. I really enjoyed reading all the books. I am also very grateful that Keri Arthur ended the series. When I found out the series was only nine books, I was relieved that the series was not going to be never ending and lose its focus *cough Anita cough*. Riley got her HEA. My only problem with Moon Sworn was the lack of time given to Quinn and Rhoan. I really missed their presence. I hope to see more of the cast in the spin-off series featuring Risa.

I kind of skimmed this review because I haven't read the rest of the series yet, but it looks interesting. I'm glad you gave it such a high rating too! I'll have to add it to my TBR list!
Thanks for stopping by Mindful Musings. Have a great weekend! :)
Did you like the Anita Blake books? I heard they just turned into ridiculous sex books. I read the first and was underwhelmed. I am reading through the Merry Gentry series by Hamilton, but I keep putting it down because dang...the lady can write a 50 page sex scene (or at least it feels like it). I get a little tired of having so much sex in a book.
I have been meaning to try Keri Arthur. I have a few friends that really like her. Will definitely put this series down on my list.
@Carin: I liked the first seven or eight, but after that the books went down hill. I am trying to finish the series for the Finish that Series Challenge, but I couldn't get past Incubus Dreams. The books focus on sex and the plots practically disappear. I wouldn't recommend the series.
I read most of the Merry Gentry series, but the same thing happened. Sex with practically all the male characters... Like Anita. There seems to be no story arc over the series as a whole... like Anita. I gave up on LKH.
I really like the Riley Jenson Series by Keri Arthur. I own all the books. Quinn is one of my fav vampires.
